Frequent Urination At Night and Kidney Problem

Frequently urination at night maybe an indicator of kidney problem, especially problem in renal tubule. With increased urination, kidney disease patients may need to go to urinate for five to six times every night. This symptom affects patient's sleeping seriously and thus worsen their illness condition.
If an individual drinks lots of water before he go to bed and it is normal for him to have excessive urination at night. But if he does not drink lots of water but has too much urine, he should be alert because frequent urination at night always is a sign of kidney problem.
Frequent urination at night is the condition that urine output at night is more than 500ml or urinating more than 2 times a night.
Kidney problem causes frequent urination at night
Renal tubule is a part of our kidney and it can reabsorb back water and nutrient substances that filtered by renal glomeruli. Glomeruli filter our blood and meanwhile conserve nutrition, during which, a small amount of nutrient substances may leak out along with harmful substance. When they come to renal tubule, about 99% nutrition are reabsorbed back, and the left substances are discharged by our kidneys as the form of urine or feces.
However, when renal tubules are damaged, water and other leaked nutrition can not be reabsorbed effectively, as a result of which, more urine are discharged and also a small amount of nutrition like protein get out of our body with urine. This is the reason, why some kidney problem patients have symptoms of frequent urination at night and proteinuria.
Excessive urination caused by kidney problem usually is accompanied by some other symptoms like electrolyte disturbance and acid-base imbalance. In advanced stage of kidney problem, aside from frequent urination, patients may also have swelling, anemia, blood urine and high blood pressure and so on.
Frequent urination is one of the symptoms of kidney problem, so do not ignore it casually and go to doctor as soon as possible once it occurs.
