Childhood Nephritic Syndrome is a common disease among children in nowadays, what are the specific symptoms of it? Is it serious? Let’s learn some basic information about it.
A 3-6 year old child is easy to get Childhood Nephritic Syndrome, with a higher rate in boy than that in girl. The direct reason of it is unclear, so mere of treatments can fundamentally treat it, which leads to the recurring and extending of the disease directly.
However, the children are allowed to go to kindergarten when the disease is under a strict control, and it is possible to help the children recover if the kindergarten can assure the nursing care.
What are the symptoms of Childhood Nephritic Syndrome?
· Edema (swelling). The most common one among all the symptoms is edema which is also the one found by parents at the beginning. Swelling may start with eyelid, face and then go through the whole body gradually with a property of pitting. There may appear serous effusion such as hydrothorax, ascites, and even hydrocele in a boy. Apart from that, the weight can increase in a proportion of 30%-50%; stretch marks and purple striae can be seen on the internal wall of thigh and the upper arm as well as abdomen if the disease is severe. Meanwhile, the urine quantity may decrease. What we needn’t worry about is that the degree of edema is not related to the prognosis.
·Protein malnutrition. Long-term lack of protein is easy to cause protein malnutrition with the manifestations including pale face, dry skin, dry hair in yellow, transverse white bands of nails, vulnerable earlap, and nasal cartilages and so on. Besides, the children may have no spirit and feel tired easily, the appetite decrease with diarrhea, all these symptoms are relate to edemas in intestinal mucosa or infection. Moreover, children with this disease are in high risk of falling behind in growth instead by high blood pressure and hematuria.
Are their any classifications of the disease?
A. Primary kidney disease. It is related to the disorder of immunologic function in the organism.
B. Simplicity renal disease. This is the most common one which is usually seen among the children in 2-7 years old. 90% of the patients have a slight change in the kidneys without hypertension or hematuresis.
C. Nephritis. It can be found among children elder than seven-year-old. Apart from the symptoms of renal disease, there may appear hypertension or hematuresis. There may have Membrane proliferative type and sclerosis type other than mild change.
D. Secondary kidney disease. It may developed from Malaria, mosquito bites, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Henoch-Schӧnlein Purpura, drug poisoning etc.

E. Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome. This type is rarely seen and usually starts from infant period.
