The kidneys are an important organ in our body, the basic functions of the
kidney are as follows.
First, it produces urine.
Second, it can purify the wastes or toxins of the body.
Third, the kidney tubules have the function of reabsorption, through which
the kidneys can keep the water and other useful materials, such as glucose,
protein, amino acid, sodium ion, potassium ion, sodium hydrogen carbonate, etc,
so as to keep balance between water and electrolyte and maintain a acid-base
equilibrium.
Forth, the kidneys have endocrine function. It can produce renin, hemopoietin
( which is related to anemia), activated vitamin D3 (which is related to calcium
deficiency, renal osteodystrophy), prostaglandin, plasmakinin ( the last two are
related to blood pressure.)
Fifth, the kidneys is the place where the degradation of the endocrine
hormone in the organism takes place . Besides, it is also the target organ of
the renal pheromone.
It is these functions above that the inner condition of our body stays stable
and the metabolism runs smoothly.
the signs of the kidney diseases in the early stage
1 edema
Eye edema
The features of the nephrotic edema are as follows. Eyelid or facial edema
will arise after a kidney patient get up in the morning, usually it will fade
away after noon. It will get worse when the patient feel tired, and it will fade
after a rest. The lower parts of our body, such as the inner ankles, legs and
the lumbosacral portion ,usually have a higher possibility in getting serious
edema.
Hypertension
The hypertension caused by kidney diseases is same with the common
hypertension. The patient will feel headache, dizzy, giddy, and tinnitus.
However, some patients have got hypertension for a long time, thus they have a
higher toleration for hypertension. Therefore, they won’t feel uncomfortable
even they have got kidney diseases.
Lumbago
Usually, patients will feel aching pain, gripping pain or persistent and dull
pain in their kidney part.
Abnormal urine amount
Normally, a person’s urine amount is about 1,000~2,000ml./day, and at an
average amount of 1,500ml./day. The abnormal urine amount may be a sign of
kidney disease. Especially the excessive urination at night is a sign of kidney
disease.
Abnormal urine test
If protein , occult blood, red blood cells(which is a index that most likely
become abnormal, especially at the early stage of kidney disease), white blood
cells, urinary cylinder, ketone body, urine sugar are found in the urine routine
test, then a further test is needed to identify the result.
