Signs of Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) troubles people not only by severe decrease of GFR (glomerular filtration rate) and the increase of creatinine level, but also by various discomforts in the patients’ body, and with the progression of the disease, the feeling of illness get severer. What are the signs of stage 4 CKD and how will people feel in this stage?
l Hard to fall asleep. Skin itch, muscle cramps are the main factors which can make people with stage 4 CKD have difficulty in falling asleep, and even though sometimes they can sleep early in the night, it is impossible for them to keep sleeping for a whole night.
l Urination changes. The urine volume will change a lot when patients are in stage 4 CKD, it can be more or less than normal levels, and it is common for the patients to get up several times at night to go to the bathroom. The color of the urine may turns into dark orange, brown, tea colored or even red with blood. In addition, foam can be found in the urine.
l Changes of taste. Patients in stage 4 CKD have poorer appetite than before. They always have a feeling like metal taste in the mouth after taking food, even though the food is their favorite one, it is hard for them to have a good appetite.
l Nerve problems. This is a new sign for the patients with CKD, after getting into stage 4, they will feel difficult in concentrating on one thing, such as balancing a checkbook or reading a newspaper. In addition, they will feel numb and ting in their fingers and toes with the progressing of the disease.

These are some obvious changes when people get stage 4 CKD and people have to suffer all the feeling of illness that they already have in early stages, further more, the symptoms can be severer. What should be reminded is that people should begin to learn some knowledge of dialysis in this stage, and they should have some prepared measures which can be taken once an emergency appears. If possible, the patients need to try their best to control the disease as the next stage is called the end stage CKD and also known as Uremia.
